Amazing fox type with almost grey or black fur
Everyone may have seen a white fox or a red one, but only a few had the opportunity to meet a black one in the wilderness. A vixen, also called a silver fox, is a type of a brown animal. They are called melanistic animal, as it means the opposite of albinism, when the pigment melanin, that provides dark colouring is developed in the skin and the fur turns into these vixens black. Melanism can be found not only in foxes, bit also in other animals.


Although the domestication of foxes started in Russia since 1595, the solver foxes were bred together on order the melanism will show in every liner of fox puppies. After some years of such breeding, the black colour now stays with every fox generation and they are known, as the Siberian fox type.

Such kind of wild silver foxes are portrayed in many tales, as they are known as very smart and wise animals. Now the note “silver fox” is used to say a handsome man with growing grey hair.
