The chicken, that likes to enter by the dog door
This is Darla, the therapy chicken in a tutu dress. She was saved from the animal fair two years ago by Erica Proctor and her son Finn. She is the founder of the rescue group called Green Dogs Unleashed found in Virginia, that was founded to help blind and deaf pets.
And her son wanted to take the three ill chickens home with them. The boy thought, that if they couldn’t survive, they would ha e at least felt love. Unfortunately, two of them weren’t able to survive, but Darla gets stronger day by day…
She likes to spend most of her time outside with other chickens and knows how to come home. She enters from the dog door to say hello. She adores spending her time with Finn.
The boy loves reading with Darla or pretending that they two are playing checkers. But the chicken’s favourite thing is being zipped up into Finn’s jacket.
And recently Darla became a certified therapy pet. “Knowing the chicken, especially for children, gives a new level of education and love to the animals.”
